Day 2 of the New Empire
Joy of all joys, I got today off; which means I can continue my reign of terror in the blogging world unabated! As you can see, somehow the uploading function for pics to here now appears to be in working order. This is a pic of me a few days ago during a most heinous dust storm. I'm still at the palace, which is why I'm just wearing a hat and no goggles; I put those on for the mission of course.
Due to various reasons, it looks like I may not get my promotion to sergeant until I get back to the states and slots open up as people get out of Guard. We will be doing an active Army type promotion board in late September as an attempt to get some of us promoted, but there is no guarantee state will budge. I am considering Officer School as another option in order to get promoted.
It looks like they have an upgrade planned for the SAPI (Small Arms Protective Insert) plates in our Interceptor Body Armor. Wonder how long till those get fielded? I also wonder if they'll ever switch to using Dragon-Skin body armor. It's more expensive, but I'm sure if mass produced for military, that would drive individual cost down. I also wonder how long till Shear Thickening Fluid gets fielded, and whether or not they can combine that with Dragon-Skin... Of course, I'll probably be out of the military by the time they get the full Land Warrior program with full-head helmets with heads up displays and color changing camoflauge into action.
In bizarre news, apparently something in the juice from the bloodroot flower causes tissue death.. and to think I used to put that stuff on my face and hands! Although, I'm sure it's probably so dilute in nature as to not cause any real effects.
That's it from here for now... back to uploadin' pics! TeddY2K out!

Hey, son!
Yeah! I managed to locate your blog all on my own after several tries (my fingers can handle Mozart concertos but not typing).
It's early Sunday morning here, so I'll wait for people to wake up before I call with your new blog info.
Keep safe.
Love,
Mom
I checked out your pictures, good stuff, you're looking like one tough dude. Today my crew and I completed about 50-60% of the "Shore-Baldwin Project" I can't wait for you to get back so you can see it in all of its glory.

Hey, Nephew!
So glad to see you blogging again. Do you know how much it means to the people who love you to keep in touch?
Down to the hundred teen temps, huh? And here we were complaining about high 90's.
Did I tell you we have two new kittens at our house? Had to take our waist-high walls around the basement stairs up to ceiling height. Spike figured out how to get over the wall with a running start. Having trouble keeping the youngsters off the tables, so we keep them in basement when unsupervised. They provide lots of laughs and stress relief (we don't play video games, so we just watch the kitties). Rode motorcycles to DeKalb for lunch then to Rochelle for dessert yesterday. With the dry summer, we've had lots of good riding weather.
Well, my bosses are asking me questions, so I should get to work.
Love you and think about you,
Auntie Kim
Hey Teddy,
Glad to see you have the new site up. It is great to be able to check in on you again. Well I shall give you an update. Melissa and I have bought a house in Sterling and are all moved in. You will have to come check it out when you get back in the states. She went this weekend to order the bridesmaid dresses. June 24th will be here before you know it. Well thats all I got. Keep safe man.
Chad
Hey Sean,
This is Megan. I found your blog! Ha! Okay, anyway...take care of yourself.

Hey, son.
There's been a lot in the news the past two days about the pentagon not being able to get the new body armor manufactured quickly enough.
They can only produce 20,000 per month.
During WWII civilian car production ceased as all the effort went into military production. Hmmmm...ceramic tiles on space shuttles...ceramic plates for body armor...surely somebody in this country is capable of a solution to this problem.
A pentagon spokesperson stated the soldiers already have armor, but those insurgents just keep changing tactics. Do they expect the insurgents to bo back to waving sabres?
The inability of the Iraqis to present a draft for their constitution is a disappointment, but an extension seems to be better than ramming through a document that would have enraged the Sunnis to the point of civil war. I hope they can reach a compromise and get enough support from the Iraqi people to move forward with the process. (and get our troops home!)
Be careful out there.
Monday evening here in the midwest of US of A. I passed along the URL for your new BLOG. Had one co-worker and one client tell me today that they had already checked it out. As your aunt said, it means a lot to the people who love you. It means a lot to those who hardly know you but want another perspective on what is going on there. It really is heart warming to hear of non-family looking into your life.
Be careful out there.
